An ethnobotanical study it is arranged alphabetically by plant name.  The author gives the pertinent information - name, family, elevation, etc. and then provides an essay on the plant uses.  It also contains line drawings.
The Auraria Library is the only library that owns this volume.

All America City

The All America City award was created in 1949 by the National Municipal League - now the National Civic League.  It is open to neighborhoods, towns, cities, counties and metropolitan regions.  To win, each community must demonstrate innovation, inclusiveness, civic engagement, and cross sector collaboration by describing successful efforts to address pressing local challenges.

This is a transcription of Uselma Duncan's July 15th, 1861 letter, written just as he was ready to march off to the First Battle of Bull Run.

The First Battle of Bull Run, also known as the First Battle of Manassas, was fought on July 21, 1861, near Manassas, Virginia.  It was the first major land battle of the Civil War.  Both the Norhtern and Southern sides were sobered by the violence and casualties of the battle. This letter, written on the eve of the Battle, speaks of the "noble cause" in which he is engaged.
