In High Gear by Morgan Smith
In High Gear : the Colorado House of Representatives 1973-1978 is Morgan Smith’s tribute to his colleagues in the Colorado legislature.
A three time representative from Adams County, Morgan served as the Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, and Chairman of the Joint Budget Committee.
“This is a book of photographs that I took as a member of the Colorado House of Representatives from 1973 to 1978. As the photographs will show, those were very different times. We worked hard and we dealt with tough issues but there was a sense of bipartisanship that seems to be missing today. For example, note how many of the photographs show people smiling or with their arms around each other. For me, this was the experience of a lifetime. Completing this book is my way of saying thanks to my colleagues for their friendship, hard work and commitment to the state of Colorado.”
The front cover is a photograph of Representative Richard Castro spoofing Republican Steve Durham (Colorado Springs) as a mean and nasty Viking during the end-of-session Hummer Awards.
Self-published through Blurb Inc. the book is available online in both soft and hard cover.
